The DowntownDC Foundation 501c3 organization raised $107,095 for its 2023 #ISupportDowntownDC campaign, the organization announced in January.
“At a time when challenges continue to mount for the DowntownDC neighborhood, we received such strong support and encouragement from the partners and community members who chose to donate to the DowntownDC Foundation,” said Foundation Executive Director Rachel Rose Hartman. “Our donors view us as an effective player in advancing our community and we are excited to tackle the challenges ahead with their support.”
The Foundation, launched in 2019 as the non-profit connected to the DowntownDC Business Improvement District, had a goal to raise $75,000 from Nov. 1-Dec. 31. But several key donations helped the organization exceed its goal.
The Hamilton Hotel, located on the renovated Franklin Park, contributed $30,000 to support the organization’s efforts.
The DowntownDC Foundation’s mission is to serve and celebrate our vibrant and diverse DowntownDC community by providing homeless services, revitalizing parks, and enhancing public spaces and experiences. The Foundation in 2023 funded a facility manager at the Downtown Day Services Center through a grant from Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation, received a grant from Bloomberg Philanthropies to enhance the pedestrian experience in Chinatown, hosted at Macy’s a Women’s Wellness Day for women experiencing homelessness and more.
